The Long Road Home
Oct 15, 2025
Healing didn’t happen overnight.
It wasn’t a single prayer, a single revelation, or a miraculous morning where everything suddenly got better. It was a long, winding, sacred road — filled with setbacks, small victories, and quiet moments of grace.
Each day became a lesson in surrender.
There were mornings I woke up determined and hopeful — and others when I could barely lift my head from the pillow. The pain didn’t leave right away. The fear still whispered. My world had shrunk to the walls of my home, my bed, and the four corners of my mind.
But something inside me had changed — a flicker of light that refused to go out.
That light was faith.
It told me to keep going.
To trust that every tear, every ache, and every prayer was part of something holy unfolding.
Listening to the Whispers
Healing required me to slow down — to listen to the quiet voice beneath the noise. The one that said, “You are not broken. You are being rebuilt.”
I began noticing patterns — what foods made me worse, what thoughts made me spiral, what people drained or uplifted my energy. My body was speaking, and for the first time, I was truly listening.
I learned that healing isn’t about control.
It’s about alignment — body, mind, and spirit working together.
When I stopped fighting my body, I started understanding it.
When I stopped fearing my symptoms, I started decoding them.
Every flare became a message, not a punishment.
In the Waiting
There were days I felt like I was disappearing.
My once-strong body had become weak and unpredictable. My nervous system was under siege. I couldn’t walk properly; the world spun around me in dizzying circles.
And yet — I still had children to care for.
A family depending on me.
A spirit that refused to die.
It was during one of those fragile, broken days that a book caught my eye:
Steve Harvey’s Jump.
I remember holding it in my trembling left hand, my right arm dead at my side; I was too weak to read for long.
I could only manage one chapter a day — sometimes only a few paragraphs — before my body gave out. My eyes burned. My head throbbed.
But I soaked up every word.
The Book That Spoke to My Soul
In that book, Steve wrote about faith — about taking the leap even when you can’t see the net.
He talked about how God gives every person a gift, a purpose — but it’s up to us to jump.
And tucked inside his words was a Bible verse I’ll never forget:
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” — Proverbs 29:18
I stopped reading and just stared at those words through tears.
Because that’s exactly what had been happening to me.
I had lost my vision.
I had been living in survival mode — existing day to day, just trying to make it through.
But that verse reminded me that without a vision, we lose direction. We lose hope. We lose ourselves.
Something inside me stirred — faint but undeniable.
If God was calling me to have vision again, then maybe… just maybe… there was still a life waiting for me beyond this illness.
The Awakening
That night, I lay in bed with Steve Harvey’s book beside me and tears on my pillow.
For the first time in a long time, I prayed not just for healing — but for vision.
“Lord,” I whispered, “show me what You want for my life.
Show me what to believe in again.”
And little by little, a picture began to form in my heart:
I saw myself pushing my children on the swings, laughing as the wind brushed my face.
I saw myself running barefoot through the park, chasing their giggles.
I saw myself diving into the salty ocean waters I had known as a child — alive, free, whole — and sharing that joy with them.
That was my vision.
And it would become my anchor.
For You
Maybe you’re there right now — in the waiting, in the darkness, wondering if your story is over.
If so, hear me: it’s not.
God isn’t done with you.
He’s just waiting for you to dream again.
Ask Him to give you vision — to show you what your healed life looks like, feels like, sounds like.
Because without vision, the people perish…
But with it — with faith, even the size of a mustard seed — you can rise from anything.
This was the moment the tide began to turn for me.
The night I stopped asking, “Why me?”
And started asking, “What now?”
That shift in my heart — that spark of divine vision —
was the beginning of my true healing.
